Frequently Asked Questions

The TR-YÖS (Türkiye Yükseköğretim Kurumları Sınavı) is the Foreign Student Exam managed by ÖSYM and accepted by most Turkish public universities for undergraduate admission. SAT, GCE A-Levels and the university's own YÖS are also widely accepted. Many private universities accept your high-school grades directly without YÖS.

A fully-funded Turkish Government scholarship covering tuition, monthly stipend (₺3,500 BSc / ₺5,000 MSc / ₺6,500 PhD as of 2025), accommodation, health insurance, one-year Turkish language course at TÖMER, and one round-trip airfare. Pakistan is an eligible country. The application opens in January each year.

English-taught programmes typically require IELTS 5.5–6.0 overall. Top universities like Koç, Sabancı, Bilkent and METU may ask for 6.5+. Programs taught in Turkish require a TÖMER C1 certificate, which Türkiye Bursları holders earn during their free 1-year language year.

You need to demonstrate funds of approximately USD 500–700/month for the duration of your stay. Türkiye Bursları holders are exempt as their award letter satisfies the financial requirement.

The student visa from the Embassy of Türkiye in Islamabad typically takes 2–4 weeks after submission. After arrival in Türkiye, you must apply for an öğrenci ikamet izni (student residence permit) within 30 days at the Göç İdaresi (Migration Management).

Bachelor's students cannot work during the first year of study. After the first year, undergraduates may work part-time with a work permit. Master's and PhD students can work part-time from the start of their programme.
