The F-1 is the standard US student visa for full-time academic study at a SEVIS-approved university or college. You apply after receiving your I-20 form from the institution.

Undergraduate: IELTS 6.0–6.5 / TOEFL 80+ and SAT 1200+ (top schools require 1400+). Graduate: IELTS 6.5–7.0 / TOEFL 90–100 and GRE / GMAT depending on the program. Some universities have made tests optional — we'll tell you which ones during counselling.

You must demonstrate funds covering the first year's tuition + living costs (typically $30,000–$70,000 depending on the university). The exact figure is stated on your I-20.

SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) is the US tracking system for international students. The SEVIS I-901 fee for F-1 is $350, paid online before your visa interview.

Yes — F-1 students can work on-campus up to 20 hours/week during term and full-time during breaks. Off-campus work requires CPT or OPT authorization.
